Project by Bombay Community Public Trust

The Bombay Community Public Trust is a city-based community foundation that collaborates with non-governmental organizations to tackle social, educational, health, and environmental issues affecting the citizens of Mumbai. One of their focus areas is on language development, which is founded on three key pillars: Listening, Reading, and Writing.

Listening is considered a critical skill that begins in the womb and develops through the early years of a child’s life. It helps a child progress from incoherent sounds to coherent words, forming phrases and sentences that continue to improve over time.

Skill Development ( Women empowerment) BCPT

Project Duration:

March 2021 to February 2022

Project Overview:

This initiative focused on empowering women by providing them with the skills needed for financial independence and sustainable livelihood opportunities. The project aimed to help women grow, develop, and start small-scale businesses through certified training programs.

Project Rationale:

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the devastating impact of unemployment and loss of livelihoods, particularly among women. In India, women’s contribution to GDP remains significantly low. By focusing on skill development, we aim to change this by empowering women to take control of their financial futures, contributing to both their personal growth and nation-building.

Quantitative Impact:
  • 240 women trained in skills for livelihood improvement.
  • 240 families benefited through financial upliftment.
  •
Qualitative Impact:
  • Women’s economic empowerment strengthens their rights, gives them control over their lives, and increases their influence in society.
  • Empowered women play a crucial role in sustainable development and act as catalysts for broader development efforts.

Solar Project (Green India Initiative Private Limited)

Year 2021-22

In collaboration with Green India Initiative Private Limited, Nirmiti Foundation distributed 150 solar study lamps to school children in rural communities. These areas face severe electricity shortages, forcing students to study under harmful kerosene lamps, which emit hazardous fumes.

Rural households urgently need decentralized, affordable, and reliable energy solutions. Solar study lamps provide an economical and eco-friendly alternative, allowing children to study longer, reduce kerosene usage, and save energy. The lamps have significantly improved students’ health, reducing eye strain, redness, and the frequency of burn injuries.
